Waiting on Wednesday [3]

Recap:

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Jill at "Breaking the Spine." It is a way of showing what upcoming book releases you're looking forward to.

What Nicole is Waiting On:

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.
Okay, so just read the blurb and you'll see what an amazing plot this book has. I've also read numerous five stars reviews on Goodreads about The Archived, so I definitely have high hopes for it. And what's better yet is that The Archived releases on the 22nd of this month! Now, I just have to wait a little...

What Sarah is Waiting On:

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller The Selection.

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.
To keep it short, I read the first book, The Selection, recently, and I thought it was okay-ish. The ending of the previous book (The Selection) left off on a slight cliff-hanger so I am a bit curious about the next book.  :)

What Are You Waiting For This Wednesday?

  1. YES! I'm totally looking forward to THE ARCHIVED! It's going to be published real soon, so I'm super excited. I haven't read THE SELECTION yet, but I've been hearing pretty mixed reviews about it. Not sure if I should give it a try or not.

Either way, great picks, both of you!
